Dr. Dre‘s Beats Electronics company, which produces the popular Beats by Dre headphones line, will enter into a $300 million deal with HTC, a Taiwanese smartphone maker. As part of the deal, HTC will acquire 51% of Beats Electronics and will implement technology from Beats Electronics into their phones.

Luke Williams, the president of Beats Electronics, stated, “When Jimmy [Iovine] and Dre started this, they had a very specific vision of what Beats would be. It wasn’t about headphones, it was about fixing the degradation of sound.”
