Mary J. Blige stopped by The Today Show earlier this week to perform her single “Mr. Wrong” from her new album My Life II: The Journey Continues. In the interview before her performance, Mary explained the reasoning behind the title of the album and her growing relationship with her fans.

“It wasn’t hard to look back because I really didn’t have to look back because my life is real. It’s full of trials and tribulations, as well as triumphs and great things and positive things. The reason for the title is because of the consistency of how to get to the next place. There’s always discomfort. But we get there and we breakthrough. And then there’s another trial and we breakthrough.”

Mary also sat down with Chelsea Handler during her visit on E!’s “Chelsea Lately.” She spoke on completing the musical Rock of Ages, working with Drake, Rick Ross, and Nas, and what it’s like having her husband as her manager.
