Last September, reports started to emerge that media mogul Ryan Seacrest would take over VH1 Soul. Those rumors turned out not to be true, but what is for certain now is that Seacrest will be launching his own cable network soon.
Seacrest, who just kicked off his 11th season as the host of American Idol, is partnering up with Mark Cuban, Creative Artists Agency, and concert promoter AEG to revamp Cuban’s HDNet network into AXS TV (pronounced “access”).
The channel will debut this summer and give viewers behind the scenes looks at red carpet events, concerts, and award shows. AXS will shift its targeted demographic from HDNet’s largely male audience to people interested in entertainment and pop culture.
Content will be produced and developed by Ryan Seacrest Productions but Ryan has no plans of being a personality on the network. Expect ASX TV to be available in 35 million homes when it official goes on air.
