Music News: Adele's 21 Becomes Biggest Number One Album Since The Bodyguard

Adele and her soulful sophomore album cannot be stopped. After its release in early 2011, 21 has sold more than 12 million worldwide, has been certified 5 times platinum in North America, and has broken countless records. Now comes another accolade.

The 6-time Grammy nominated 21, has now become the biggest #1 album since The Bodyguard Soundtrack was released in 1993. The soundtrack, powered by Whitney Houston‘s classics “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing,” spent 20 weeks on top of Billboard’s 200 chart and Adele is currently close behind, racking up her 17th week at #1.

She beats out the soundtrack to the movie Titanic, which stayed at #1 for 16 weeks in 1998.

Adele is also nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the Outstanding Song and Music Video category for her hit “Someone Like You”. The award show, which also nominated Beyonce, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, and Anthony Hamilton, will air on Friday, February 17, at 8PM ET on NBC.
