The Houston Family Releases Statement

The mother and family of Whitney Houston have released a statement on her untimely and tragic passing.

Cissy Houston has joined together with her family to release the following statement concerning her daughter’s death at the age of 48.

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney. This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends.”

Bobby Brown, who was reportedly visibly shaken by the passing of his ex-wife while performing with New Edition yesterday in Mississippi, also released a statement, expressing his grief and asking for privacy.

“I am deeply saddened at the passing of my ex-wife, Whitney Houston. At this time, we ask for privacy, especially for my daughter, Bobbi Kristina. I appreciate all of the condolences that have been directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time.”

The statements come as reports have surfaced that Bobbi Kristina, Whitney’s 18-year-old daughter with Brown, was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital today after learning of her mother’s death.

Yesterday afternoon, Whitney was found dead in her Beverly Hilton Hotel room hours before she was to attend mentor Clive Davis‘ annual Pre-Grammy party.

Prayers and thoughts are with the Houston family at this extremely difficult time.
