Music News: Rihanna And Jay Z To Headline Olympic Games Festival

The 2012 Summer Olympics will be hosted by London, beginning on July 27. But a month before the games start, the London 2012 Festival will take place and feature headlining acts like Jay Z and Rihanna.

The Roc Nation artists will perform during BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend on June 23 and 24.

According to Business Week:

“There will be absolutely something for everyone: from Beethoven to Jay-Z, from Shakespeare to Mike Leigh,” Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said at the news conference in the Tower of London. Leigh is a film director.

The festival organizers conveyed the size and scope of the event.

“The London 2012 Festival will be the biggest cultural celebration in our lifetime,” said Royal Opera House Chief Executive Tony Hall, who chairs the Cultural Olympiad board.

Other artists like Florence + the Machine, Jack White, David Guetta, and Tinie Tempah will also perform during the celebration weekend.

In the meantime, Rihanna is still hard at work. Take a look below for her feature in Coldplay‘s tour video for “Princess of China.”
