In the middle of last year, John Witherspoon, who voices Grandad Freeman on the critically acclaimed and controversial show “The Boondocks,” hinted that the series would be returning for another season, despite claims by creator Aaron McGruder that season 3 was the end of the road for the characters.
Well, it looks like Grandad was right because yesterday, Adult Swim confirmed during its upfront presentation that “The Boondocks” will be back on our TV screens for another season after taking a 2 year hiatus.
There are no further details at the time, but if what Mr. Witherspoon said last year still stands, the new season will have 20 episodes instead of 15.
Here’s to hoping that Regina King, who plays the voices of both Huey and Riley Freeman, will also come back to the show. She’s been a strong advocate for the series (movies, merchandise, and all) for a long time.
