The infamous reporter who Will Smith says tried to kiss him on the red carpet of the Men In Black III premiere in Moscow has now apologized.

Hip Hollywood caught up with the reporter, whose name is Vitalii Sediuk, and he explained his initial intentions, how it all went wrong, and offered up an apology to Will for his actions.

“After having the possibility to think and analyze everything that happened, now I do apologize for my behavior. Now I understand that it was too much. I just tried to kiss him on his cheek and he moved his head so fast. Then it turned out as if I wanted to kiss him on the lip or the ear. It was chaotic.”

Sediuk said he is a big fan of Will and that he just wanted to impress him upon meeting him. He says he hopes to meet Will again and that he would shake his hand instead of what he actually did the first time.

For his own part, Will explained to David Letterman that the moment was just awkward.

Will’s new movie, Men In Black III, opens in theaters this Friday.
