This season of Oprah‘s “Next Chapter” is full of surprises. First it was 50 Cent and now it’s the Kardashians. But it hasn’t come without controversy. When news hit that Oprah would be interviewing the Kardashian family (including their spoues), many people questioned why. Well, Oprah, of course, has the answer.

She took to her official Facebook page today to explain why she wanted to interview Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Rob, Kylie, Kendall, and Kris, along with Lamar Odom, Scott Disick, and Bruce Jenner.

Ok my friends I had the longest interviewing session I can ever recall, talking to ALLLLLLLL the Kardashians. I had never met them, nor seen the show. I did a full on Kardashian Kram in preparation, watching major shows from every season. I genuinely wanted to know why they have become a cultural phenomenon? Why do so many people love to watch their every move and why do so many others love to hate them. Are they completely ego centered? Are they really “famous for being famous” or is there something more?

I “GOT IT” … those answers +more. Those of you who watch the show know they hold nothing back. This interview I’d say was another level of forthrightness and honesty. Who surprised me the most? Scott. Lamar and Khloe. Kim.

The Kardashians’ interview with Oprah will air this coming Sunday at 8PM ET followed by the second part of her sit down with 50 Cent. But before all of that, she will have a conversation with DeVon Franklin, who is a movie executive and pastor, and just so happens to be Meagan Good‘s new fiance.
