Video: Jennifer Hudson Talks Breaking Down Before Whitney Houston Tribute At Grammys

When news spread of Whitney Houston’s sudden passing the night before the 2012 Grammy awards, producers of the show rushed to put together a proper tribute performance to the late pop icon.

In the new documentary A Death In The Family: The Show Must Go On, Jennifer Hudson shares how producers asked her to perform “I Will Always Love You,” why she said yes, and how she wasn’t sure she would be able to make it through the song in the first place.

Jennifer also revealed that during rehearsal for the tribute, she became too emotional to finish it out, leaving many people in the theater in tears.

The remainder of the documentary focuses on the various ways the live telecast was changed because of Whitney’s tragic death. You can watch the nearly 30 minute documentary over at Grammy.com.
