Once Tia Mowry Hardict announced that she was stepping away from “The Game” as Melanie, BET began its hunt to find another leading lady. It looks like the search is off, because it was revealed today that actress Lauren London has landed a permanent role on the series.
According to TVLine, Lauren will play a character named Kiera.
The actress — whose credits also include Single Ladies and Madea’s Big Happy Family – will play Kiera, a former child star who is currently appearing in a Cosby Show-esque sitcom. Producers are also on the lookout for an actor to play an all-star running back. Both roles are intended to fill the void left by departing cast members Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall (aka Melanie and Derwin).
In May, BET confirmed that Pooch Hall would not be back to the show, but he has made it clear recently that he would like to return to “The Game” for its sixth season and says that his contract with the network is currently being worked out.
Whether that will happen or not is still up in the air, but Brandy, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Coby Bell, and Barry A. Floyd have all signed on for the upcoming season.
