After some delays, the long awaited NWA biopic has started to move forward. Director F. Gary Gray, who last directed 2009′s Law Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, announced via Twitter that casting for the movie has opened.

The biopic will be called Straight Outta Compton, named after the group’s debut album, and roles are being cast for Ice Cube, Eazy E, Dr. Dre, Yella, and MC Ren.

Earlier this year, Ice Cube spoke about having Gray on board to direct the film:

“We’re excited about him being part of the project. The script is getting tighter and tighter, and once the script is tight as sweaty butt cheeks, we’ll put it out, and we’ll start working on it.”

Ice Cube also called into “More Music Mornings with Free” yesterday to discuss his partnership with Coors Light to find the coldest MC in America.
