Maxwell Cancels Upcoming Tour Due To Vocal Cord Issues

Fans who were hoping to see Maxwell in concert this summer will be disappointed to learn that the singer has been forced to cancel his upcoming US tour. In a statement released today, he revealed that he has developed swelling and hemorrhaging in his vocal cords.

Maxwell apologized to fans earlier today:

“I know this sucks but after many months of recording I’ve temporarily damaged my voice. I’ve had issues before during other tours, but was able to power through. I’ve been strongly advised to rest and undergo treatment. I look forward to hopefully seeing you next on our full fledged tour, when the sequel to the BLACKSUMMERS’NIGHT trilogy is released. My deepest apologies to those who made the effort to try and see the show. Love and Thanks, M”

The tour would have featured Maxwell performing his entire album catalog in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Newark, spending 2 nights in a row in each city.

June 20 – Los Angeles, CA, Staples Center (“Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite” and “Embrya”)
June 21 – Los Angeles, CA, Staples Center (“Now” and “BLACKsummers’night”)
