Tyler Perry has left Madea behind and taken on the role of a detective in the upcoming movie Alex Cross. Perry plays Cross, who goes on a hunt to find a notorious serial killer, played by Matthew Fox.

Synopsis: “Alex Cross” follows the homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry), from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, as he meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller.

Alex Cross is an adaption to a series of books written by author James Patterson. Previously, Morgan Freeman assumed the role of Alex Cross in movies like Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. And Idris Elba had originally signed on to play Cross this time around, but the movie’s producers changed directions and cast Tyler instead.
