Terribly sad news broke last week when media outlets began reporting that Usher‘s 11 year old stepson and Tameka Raymond‘s son Kyle Glover had been seriously injured in a jet ski accident on Lake Lanier in Georgia.
Kyle (pictured above in the blue and green jacket) and a teenage girl were on an inner tube in the lake that was being pulled by a pontoon boat when a man riding a jet ski hit both of them. The girl received treatment for a broken arm and lacerations on her head.
Unfortunately, Kyle was unresponsive when he was pulled from the water and has remained in critical condition since the accident. According to TMZ, he has been declared brain dead by doctors.
Now, the man on the jet ski has been identified as a family friend, Jeffrey S. Hubbard. The Department of Natural Resources has opened an investigation into the accident, though alcohol has been ruled out as a factor. No charges have been filed against Hubbard, but there could be in the future.
As for how Tameka and Usher (who divorced in 2009 after 2 years of marriage), and their families are doing, Us Weekly reports a source has told them:
“[Usher] grew close to Kyle and, of course, that has nothing to do with the situation with Tameka. He loved Kyle. This is a terrible, awful tragedy. Usher is torn up.
“Tameka and Usher don’t get along, but in this circumstance Usher is coming to her side. Usher practically raised Kyle as his own. He’s known him for seven years. It is so sad what happened.”
Tameka has 3 children from a previous marriage (including Kyle) while she and Usher share 2 children together, Usher V and Naviyd.
Prayers and thoughts are with their family at this most difficult time.
