Kanye West Leads BET Hip Hop Awards With 17 Nominations

For the second year in a row, comedian and actor Mike Epps will host BET’s annual Hip Hop Awards. Though the host is the same (and the highly anticipated ciphers will also return), the list of nominees is a lot different and mainly for one reason: Kanye West‘s impressive 17 nominations.

Kanye is nominated in almost every category, including Lyricist of the Year and Director of the Year. The only categories he was excluded from were Rookie of the Year and DJ of the Year (go figure).

But Kanye isn’t the only one who racked up the nominations. Def Jam rapper 2 Chainz earned 13, while Drake pulled in 11 nominations this year. Jay Z has 9.

See the full list of nominees below and catch the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards when they air on October 9 at 8PM ET.
