  1. Did You Over Extend Your Money For Christmas?

    Yes I know, I know. You just had to get that last $400 gift. I hope you didn’t overextend, but just in case you did, here are some sure signs that you went a little overboard trying to make everyone happy:

    • You maxed your credit cards out.
    • You went shopping with no list, and no plan so you got all kinds of things you didn’t mean to.
    • You’re too “wealthy” to look at the sales circular but broke enough to be pissed when you see that same item was 40% off at Wal-Mart.
    • You don’t have your mortgage or rent payment for the first of 2011 (and you don’t care).

    Now if this has happened to you, you’ll received warm smiles and hugs for all your hard work and investment, but what about after that? How do you get back on track? Well, here’s what you do for starters:

    1. Call every credit card you used and get that interest rate down for 6 months while you pay off your Christmas shopping sprees.
    2. Put a budget for Christmas success together for 2011. Figure out how much you spent. Then add 20% to that number and commit to saving 1/12th of that every month until next shopping season.
